This is the perfect tour for avid cyclists, long distances and big climbs. You will start high up on the Alentejo coast where you will discover the wild, wild beaches this coupled with the rolling hills of the unspoilt Algarve make this tour a unique experience. You must be fully fit for this tour as the total distance covered during the week will be 600km with the longest day being 131km. There will be two guides cycling with you plus a full support van.

March 29 – April 06, September 20 – 28 2008
Day 1 – meet at the airport in Lisbon and van transfer to Grândola. After a light lunch in this charming town we will go for a warm-up ride (approx. 50km). Overnight Grândola.
Day 2 – ride through cork and olive tree groves on the way to Santiago do Cacém, where we will visit the Roman ruins of Miróbriga. The ride will then take us to the Atlantic coast and through the charming village of Porto Covo, on the way to Cercal, 95km. Overnight Cercal.
Day 3 – the longest day of the tour! A great day of riding that combines very different landscapes - the cliffs, the wild beaches and the town of Sagres are among the several highlights of the day. It was in Sagres that Prince Henry the Navigator prepared many of Portugal´s discovery journeys, 131km. Overnight Sagres.
Day 4 – we start our West to East crossing of the Algarve. The route will take us through olive, orange, fig and almond groves. We will stay in Caldas de Monchique, a popular spa since the Roman times. Save some time for a full body massage, 78km. Overnight Caldas de Monchique.
Day 5–- the plan for today is simple - a loop ride that will take us to the highest point in the Algarve, the Fóia peak (902m/2960ft). This is a very challenging ride but the panoramic views from the peak are fantastic, 78km. Overnight Caldas de Monchique.
Day 6–- today we will discover the best of the inland Algarve. Charming villages and
rolling hills make this a great day of riding. In Silves, the former Moorish capital
of the Algarve, the 11th century castle is well worth a visit, 96km. Overnight Sao Bras de Alportel.
Day 7 – our last day of riding will take us all the way to the Spanish border, completing our West/East crossing of the Algarve. The coastal village of Cacela Velha, with its beautiful white sand beach, and the 13th century castle in Castro Marim are among today´s highlights, 72km. Overnight Castro Marim.
Day 8 – morning transfer to Lisbon you will have the afternoon to explore the unique mix of old and
new neighborhoods within Portugal´s capital, as well as its many interesting monuments and museums. Farewell dinner in one of Lisboa´s typical restaurants. Overnight Lisbon.
